The School of Automotive Engineering is the lead unit of the Vocational Education Group in automotive specialty and has a national-level teaching innovation team. The school has 4 specialties including Automobile Application and Maintenance Technology, Automobile Marketing and Service, New Energy Vehicles Application and Maintenance and Automobile Body Maintenance Technology. The undergraduate major of automobile service engineering (Automobile Application and Maintenance technology) was jointly developed with Tianjin University of Technology and Education.

The school currently has 24 full-time teachers, including 4 professors, 5 associate professors, and 10 lecturers. In terms of teachers, 20 of them with a master's degree or above; 100% of the teachers are "double-qualified"; 1 teacher has won “the 5th National Huang Yanpei Outstanding Teacher Award” and 1 teacher has won “National Famous Teachers of Transportation Vocational Education”. In the past three years, the school has won 1 second prize in the National Vocational College Teaching Ability Competition, 2 first prizes in the Tianjin Teaching Ability Competition, 1 first prize of Tianjin Teaching Achievement. Moreover, 16 teachers have obtained the seed lecturer qualification of school-enterprise cooperative enterprise. In total, 6 teachers went to Germany, 4 teachers went to Singapore, 2 teachers went to Australia for training.

The school has Dongfeng Nissan Training Base, Chang 'an Ford North China Training Center, Jiangling Automobile Tianjin Technology Training Center, Lincoln (China) Tianjin Technology Training Center, Beijing Auto New Energy Tianjin Technology Training Center and other school-enterprise co-built campus training base. With a construction area of 10,800 square meters, the school is equipped with 25 vehicle maintenance stations and 6 "Internet + intelligent training rooms". It has an integrated teaching environment of software and hardware theory, which supports mobile and fragmented learning. The 82 teaching vehicles including German, Japanese and American departments, 940 sets of various equipment assemblies which worth 45.43 million yuan; more than 50 stable training bases outside the school provide favorable guarantee for students' off campus practice and employment. There are more than 50 stable off-campus training bases, which provide favorable guarantee for students' off-campus internship and employment.
