Recently, the Communist Youth League Committee of Tianjin issued “the Decision on Commendation of 2018-2019 ‘Tianjin Outstanding Youth Volunteers and Outstanding Youth Volunteer Service Collective’”. After individual application, college recommendation, university-level selection, municipal evaluation and other links, Tianjin Vocational Institute "Guangming Action" volunteer service team won the "2018-2019 Tianjin Excellent Youth Volunteer Collective". Xiao Jinpeng from School of Art and Engineering, Shi Ziwen from School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering and Automation, and Fu Chi from School of Optometry won the title of "2018-2019 Excellent Young Volunteers in Tianjin".

In 1996, School of Optometry of Tianjin Vocational Institute established the club " Guangming Action " to build an excellent volunteer service team that "pays back the society with what I have learned". Adhering to the "Dedication of Light" as the action guide, the team gave full play to the advantages of optometry technology. Under the high attention of the leaders of the institute, the team was guided by professional teachers on the spot, and the students actively participated in a series of volunteer service activities.

Over the past 24 years since its establishment, “Guangming Action” has carried out activities in more than 50 communities and hundreds of schools in all districts and counties of Tianjin, as well as in Henan, Xinjiang, Gansu and other provinces and cities, where it has carried out more than 200 service activities for more than 80,000 people.

In recent years, under the leadership of the Party Committee of TVI and the Municipal Party Committee of the Youth League, the Youth League Committee of the institute takes volunteer service as an important carrier of ideological and political education in colleges and universities, and actively guides the vast number of youth League members in the institute to devote themselves to volunteer service and public welfare practice. Based on its own professional characteristics, the school takes voluntary service as an effective means to cultivate professional talents, and combines it with the growth of students to comprehensively promote the whole process of practical education. In the past two years, the institute has undertaken important events and conferences such as the National Paralympic Games Marathon and the 2019 Tianjin Marathon, the National Paralympic Games and the Special Olympics Torch Relay, Summer Davos and other important events and conferences, to encourage all young students in the school to take responsibility, and carry out selection and recognition of outstanding volunteers and volunteer groups.

During the epidemic period, more than 16,000 students of Tianjin Vocational Institute registered as volunteers through the "volunteer exchange" system, and 1,691 youth league members participated in the community front-line epidemic prevention work. With love and sincerity, the young volunteers of the school have interpreted the volunteer service spirit of "dedication, fraternity, mutual assistance and progress", and actively displayed the good spirit of building a harmonious campus and serving the social development. The Youth League Committee of the Institute relies on the working pattern of "3 Integrity Education", constantly promotes the normal, project and professional development of youth volunteer services in the new era, and leads the youth league members to actively contribute to the prevention and control of the epidemic.
